Chicago Skyline from the West Loop – a Time Lapse

Watching the gorgeous skyline of Chicago from the office is definitely one of my favorite job benefits!
The view includes the Willis Tower and some other famous icons of Chicago, and watching them through different seasons and times of the day guarantee a renewed experience every time you look at it.
In one of those cold days of Chicago’s winter I was looking through the window and watching the snow pour down and was amazed with the effect of the snow in the skyline. Then, I set myself to make an experiment and try to capture the experience with my camera. I coded a script that would tether to my SLR, take a picture every few seconds, apply a tilt-shift filter to it and upload straight to my account at smugmug.
After a few shots I realized that the tilt-shift wasn’t a great effect for the skyline, and that the pure untreated photo was the real experience that I was looking for. Then, I left my camera shooting pictures for several days at the office, selected one range of photos and combined them into the time lapse video below. Enjoy it!
